The workstation prompts for a card swipe, but does not have that hardware If a public workstation prompts the user to swipe a card, rather than enter a VUNet ID and password, and the workstation is NOT a print release station, here is the likely cause. Print Release Stations (PRS) are explicitly defined as such in the system, and the workstation name is tracked as being a PRS. If a workstation that was formerly used as a PRS is repurposed, it is necessary to notify the card office of the change, so that workstation name can be removed from the PRS exception list. When replacing a PRS, either notify the card office of the change and what the new workstation name is that will be the PRS, OR use the same workstation name for the new equipment as was used for the workstation being replaced. |
